FAQ

We get a lot of emails. A lot of questions. Please check below if you want to send a film or just come and watch some…

CAN I SUBMIT A FILM TO THE FESTIVAL?

You can. We are accepting short films, short documentaries and feature documentaries. We are now open for submissions and we take all films via the online platform Film Freeway. All submission fees, rules and deadlines – and some more insight into what we are looking for can be found there.

CAN ANYONE COME TO THE FESTIVAL?

Filmstock has always been for everyone, and it’s not just about films. There is is art, music, podcasting, spoken word and all round discussion about the creative industries. We do retreat, that most screenings carry a 15+ age restriction. But individual film listings (when the scheduled is published in October) will have more detail.

HOW DO I BUY TICKETS? CAN I BUY A PASS FOR EVERYTHING?

You can buy a pass that gets you in to all the screenings here. There are two types. All passes are discounted until the end of August or the first 150 sell. As a pass holder you can reserve your place at specific screenings.

CAN I BUY AN INDIVIDUAL TICKET?

Individual tickets for films and special events will be available when the scheduled is published in October.

CAN I BUY ON THE DOOR?

You can. We’ll have a festival centre you can go to, and they’ll set you up.

HOW DO I COLLECT MY PASS?

The festival centre, based in the Youthscape venue will be the hub of all festival information and ticketing. If you pre-purchase a pass, you can pick it up from here.

I HAVE A PASS. I REALLY WANT TO MAKE SURE I SEE A CERTAIN FILM.

We will be using come great software called Eventive, run by our friends in Memphis. This allows you to see the schedule, buy passes, extra tickets and make sure you get a reservation at the things you want to see.

DO YOU SELL FOOD?

We will have a pop-up mess hall selling different specials throughout the festival. A meat option and a vegan option. Those people who have Stockholder passes get all these meals included. There will be a certain number of ‘extra plates’ that we will also sell if you find yourself hungry.

THAT’S A LOT OF HOURS OF FILMS, I’M GONNA NEED COFFEE?

That’s lucky, because we’re building our very own coffee bar sponsored by the wonderful people at La Cimbali who are providing all the tools, and Union Hand Roasted Coffee who are providing all the beans. It’s gonna be a beautiful thing, and the best coffee in town for those 4 days to be sure!

ARE THERE AGE RESTRICTIONS?

Until we programme we don’t know the full answer to this, but most sessions/films will carry a 15+ blanket restriction. Certain special events may be more open. The full schedule in October will reveal all.

DO YOU NEED VOLUNTEERS FOR THE EVENT?

YES. Filmstock runs on the love and time of people. We will be looking for people who want to join us to help with box office, guest hospitality, film projection, stewarding plus there are roles for those who want barista training or wish to help out in the pop-up food hall.

DO YOU NEED PLACES FOR VISITING FILMMAKERS TO STAY?

In the past, people have opened up their homes for traveling filmmakers and artists who are always on a budget, especially if they have flown in from somewhere. It led to great relationships, and a great experience for the visitors and the hometowners. So if you have a nice spare room… we want people to be comfortable and feel hosted, then get in touch. We’ll happily swap Standard Festival Passes for rooms.

I AM A MEMBER OF THE BEAR CLUB? DO I GET DISCOUNT ON MY FESTIVAL PASS?

Filmstock is a separate entity than The Bear Club, so to keep ticketing straightforward, we have not applied Bear Keeper discount to the tickets and passes for these few days. We do know that Bear Keepers will want to come and enjoy and hopefully buy passes, so we’re working on a little gift package that members will get in replacement for the weekend that we think will more than make up for it.

I HAVE ANOTHER QUESTION…

Okay okay… you win. Email us. We’ll try and get back to you as soon as we can.
